OK, so that isn’t quite the biblical proverb in its purest sense but it should be!
And whilst I am on a biblical theme, now is probably time for a confession. I haven’t updated my website for nine months 😱.
To be clear I know that is not acceptable behaviour. But like every other marketer, when you spend your day updating your client’s websites, the last thing you have energy and inspiration for is your own.
THIS IS NOT ACCEPTABLE PEOPLE!!! If you have a website, you must look after it. Consider a new blog post now and again, the equivalent of watering your houseplants. Without that water, the plant will die and shrivel. With a bit of water, it will flourish, flower and gain attention.
Top tips for website blogs:
- Update with new blogs. Regularly. If you ask ten experts as to how frequently this should be, you are likely to get ten different answers but I am pretty confident none of them will say every nine months 🤣. Fortnightly is a good start – or monthly at a push.
- Add content that is useful to your readers that shows you know what you are doing – and you are still doing it. A website that hasn’t been updated for, say nine months, for example, will leave people worried that the business is still operational.
- Update with a mixture of short blogs, and longer more comprehensive blogs to hit everyone’s needs.
- Get a professional to produce your blogs regularly. After all, they are not updating their own website so they have the time 🤣
Meanwhile, if you are looking for a content creator, I promise you that despite not following my own rules, I will make sure that your website is bang up-to-date and doing what it needs to do for you. Drop me a message and I can showcase some of my latest work. It just won’t be on my website😉.
